When transformed into a hero, Jozen dons a suit reminiscent of a high-ranking military officer—his conception of the responsibility of his position made manifest. In hero form, the broken compass he wears around his neck regains its functionality, becoming helpful for grasping one’s location again. Using his Parallel Weapon pen and ruler, he is able to write down shifts in air pressure and currents onto a manifested sea chart, bringing about those changes in reality. Though this ability is capable of conjuring up storms or lightning in specific spots, its usage requires a deep knowledge of the surrounding environment, making it weak and far less effective when used in unfamiliar territory.

It was Jozen’s strong sense of responsibility and excellent ability to learn that propelled him into being a respected navigator at such a young age. He appears to be of a different species than Kiloc, and that is no surprise since the father and son are not actually blood-related. Though he finds himself cringing at his father, who is crowned with the nickname of “Laid-Back Craptain,” he feels a deep gratitude to the man for raising him. From this gratitude comes the belief that his duty is to support his unreliable captain of a father and share in his dream of leading everyone to calm waters and a world with no conflict. For that reason, he does his best to work at both of his roles as navigator and hero, seeking a better future.
